Natural burials
There is something deeply comforting about a burial that takes place in nature. Our environmentally sustainable wildflower meadow offers a beautiful place to lay a loved one to rest, with space, stillness, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Why choose a natural burial
A natural burial is designed to return your loved one's body to the earth in the most environmentally gentle way possible.

Families often describe natural burials as more personal, more intimate, and more in tune with how their loved one lived. Ahead of the day, you are invited to choose a place within the meadow that feels right and meaningful.
The ceremony itself can be simple or as detailed as you wish, often including readings, music, or personal touches in an open-air setting. If preferred, services can also take place in our chapel, with the option of gathering afterwards in our Snowdrop Lodge.
Whether simple and direct or accompanied by words of reflection and remembrance, each burial is carried out with quiet professionalism and deep care. Our team will guide and support you throughout, ensuring that the service, however you choose to hold it, is dignified, personal, and beautifully held within nature’s embrace.
What happens at a natural burial
Natural burials are designed to conserve and enhance local habitats, allowing the body to return to the earth naturally and gently.
To support this process, all coffins or shrouds must be fully biodegradable. Materials such as willow, seagrass, or rattan are often chosen for their simplicity and harmony with the natural environment.
Following each burial, the grave mound remains in place for approximately 1 year, allowing the soil to settle naturally. After this time, the area is carefully and respectfully tended by our specialised grounds team, gradually transforming the space into a thriving native wildflower meadow that supports wildlife and biodiversity.
To preserve the simple and undisturbed character of the meadow, no objects are placed directly on burial plots. If desired, ashes may also be interred within burial plots or scattered on, or alongside them.
The meadow
Our beautiful wildflower meadow is where loved ones are remembered, and where life continues through the rhythms of nature. Rest on one of our memorial benches or wander through the long grasses, where you can quietly observe the natural world around you, including bees, birds, small mammals and perhaps even a deer or two.
Our peaceful wildflower meadow is a beautiful place to lay a loved one to rest. It offers a unique sense of space, stillness and a deep connection to the natural world.

Remembering a loved one
For those who wish to create a more formal place of remembrance, we offer a range of thoughtful and environmentally friendly memorial options. These can include planting a tree or placing a plaque made from natural materials in one of our designated areas.
In this way, a natural burial can become more than a farewell. It can be a lasting act of care for the environment, a legacy that supports and sustains life for generations to come.
